Johann Plietzsch
studied trumpet at the high-school of music Dresden with Prof. Ludwig Güttler and Günter Rössler ( Principal-trumpet, Gewandhaus- orchester Leipzig) and at the high-school of music Berlin with Robert Platt (Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra). He continued his studies of Early Music and natural trumpet at the high-school of music Cologne with Friedemann Immer Additional studies for natural trumpet with Edward H. Tarr (Schola Cantorum Basiliensis).
1990, he established the Baroque Trumpet Ensemble Berlin, specializing in trumpet music from 1500 to1800 performed on period
instruments. The focal point of his interests is a research of the up to now unpublished compositions preserved in early manuscripts and prints, their elaboration and edition, which enables to expand his and
the ensemble’s repertoire.
Besides rich orchestral and solo concert activity he also takes part in numerous radio and CD recordings for example with Musica
Florea Prag, Sächsisches Barockorchester Leipzig, Dresdner Barockorchester, Agata Sapiecha & Il Tempo Warsaw and Simon Standage & collegium musicum 90.
In 2002 Johann Plietzsch made his debut as a conductor during concerts at the Musikfest Schloß Weikersheim and the Hohenloher
Kultursommer Festival conducting the programme „Le Concert des Nations“ including the performance of “Music for the Royal Fireworks” by G.Fr.Handel in its original version from 1749 for wind and drums on period
instruments.
During the season 2003 he conducted the same programme at the Göttinger Händelfestspiele and the Musikfestspiele Potsdam-Sansouci. 2005 he was invited to conduct the baroque orchestra l’estro armonico Berlin for concerts during the Hohenloher Kultursommer Festival Schloss Neuenstein (Germany) with orchestral compositions by J.S.Bach, J.Fr.Fasch and G.Fr.Handel.
Since 1994 Johann Plietzsch is a teacher for trumpet at the Domsingschule (St.-Hedwigs-Kathedrale Berlin). Within the enterprises
organized by Werkgemeinschaft Musik Düsseldorf (Germany) on regular basis he runs courses of modern and early trumpet as well as of chamber music.
Since 2005 he is a regular teacher for natural trumpet and chamber music at the International Summer Academy of Early Music Wilanow
(Warsaw).
2006 Johann Plietzsch took part as trumpet teacher in the Barenboim-Said Foundation Music Education project in Ramallah
(Palestine).
Since October 2007 Johann Plietzsch leads a class for natural trumpet and Early Music at the Poznan Highschool of Music (Poland)
His special interest in teaching is the common coherence between breathing, the in- and output of energy, body
disposition and their directly effect to the music. So, beside the early music theory, his teaching method is deeply influenced by asian “breath & move” techniques.
